Artist statement: My current body of work was inspired by trees and is a tribute to my father, who died over three years ago…
The best time spent with my overworked and in-demand dad, was on a Sunday morning when we would rise in the early hours (every one else still in bed) and he would stand in his paisley dressing gown and Grosby slippers on the back step of our fibro addition, gaze out at the backyard and exclaim, ‘Trees, glorious trees!’
He taught me to appreciate the moment, and the quiet that could come from nature, even if it was only growing over the back fence on the neighbour’s property.
