“Paint as Landscape” – Goulburn Regional Art Gallery 24 November - 4 December 2010 Artist statement: The subject of this body of work is the thwarted desire to immerse myself in nature, as well as the uncertainty and contradictions of reality. As a city dweller, most of my contact with nature is from within the car and through the lens of my camera – and the work reflects this. Whilst the images are embedded in nature, my practice is concerned with an exploration of paint – the processes by which it has an ability to elicit the sense of air, light and energy of movement through the Australian landscape. |
